Incorporating art into your mindfulness and meditation practice can be a creative and enriching way to deepen your experience.
Some ways to use art in your mindfulness and meditation practice.
Mandala Colouring: Colouring sandals can be a meditative and calming practice. (You can find printable mandala designs or colouring books specifically created for meditation, online or they can be purchased on Amazon or in certain bookshops).
Create Visual Affirmations: Paint or draw your favourite Affirmations or positive words (examples can be found in the link below). Focus on the words and colours as you create, and then use the visual affirmations as objects of meditation.
Mindful Doodling: Allow yourself to doodle freely without a specific goal or image in mind. Let your pen move as it wants on the paper. This can be a form of moving meditation (lots of people use this practice unaware thatchy are using form of moving meditation.
Nature art: Go on a nature walk, collect leaves, stones or twigs. Use them to create art in a meditative and mindful way.
Zentangle: Zentangle is a structured method of drawing patterns. Its a form of meditative drawing that can help you focus and relax.
Art Journaling:Combine art and journaling by creating an art journal. You can draw, paint or collage while reflecting on your thoughts and feelings.
Creative Visualisations: Create a vision board by cutting out images or words from magazines that represent your goals and desire Use this visual representation as part of your meditation practice.
Remember that the goal of art in meditation is not to create a masterpiece but to express yourself, be present in the creative process, and cultivate mindfulness. You can adapt these practices to suit your preferences and explore how art enhances your mindfulness and meditative experiences.
